A SYMPHONIC COLLABORATION
BETWEEN INDIA AND DENMARK

The association INDK Symphonic Collaboration works at strengthening relations and understanding between Denmark and India through culture.

An important cultural encounter will take place in March 2020 when for the first time ever classical orchestra musicians from both countries will work together on a week-long programme of masterclasses, studies and musical workshops, culminating with two unique concerts in Mumbai.

India’s premier cultural institution, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai is hosting the programme in collaboration with the Symphony Orchestra of India and the Danish conductor Ms Maria Badstue.

MARIA BADSTUE, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

"With my life in Denmark and my roots in India it will be a great personal and professional pleasure if I can contribute to strengthen the cultural and musical ties between the two nations. In 2017 I visited India for the first time since my adoption and this was one of the most moving experiences in my entire life. I am looking forward to presenting Danish music and celebrating Beethoven´s 250th birthday in India, and I am excited about the Indian contribution of lectures and workshops on classical Indian music. And perhaps most of all, I can't wait to bring 20 Danish and 25 Indian musicians together - 40 human beings from two very different cultures will meet and make music together in something as complex as a symphony orchestra - I think it will be magic!".
